WEEK-IN #17
The Blessing of what we Eat
Whatever religion you pick in India, Food is one of those few things which we pray to and also which we pray for. Most of us have forgotten that what we eat is literally priceless, and we have to respect it.
In today's world, everything is compared to how much we've spent. You've bought an Rs.150 movie ticket, watched half, and didn't like it. We don't hesitate to walk out, cause watching the other half might be impossible and we might only lose Rs.75 worth of movie. That seems fine. We apply the same logic to food. Leaving out food feels easier, and if it's homemade, you won't even hesitate to throw it away, cause that costs practically nothing. People are so wrong. What you've got to wat is not what you've earned, but what has been blessed. You are throwing away your blessings.
To look at this a bit differently, let's say you are an IT engineer and worked tirelessly for a month to build an excellent code. You are paid fairly too. But, your client had looked at it and straight away rejected it. You are of course gonna be frustrated, though you are paid what you deserve. About food, think of it as at least 6 months of tireless work 24 hours a day for a farmer, and you are throwing away such a dedicated work's result. You could at least respect what's in front of you and complete the plate.
I know that there are situations where you cannot complete your whole plate, but you have to remember what you've disrespected. There are millions in our country who are in no condition to get enough food every day. If you are not eating what you've decided on, pack it up and give it to a person in need. As I've already said, the food we eat is not what we've earned, but a blessing.
Hi, Rahul very well narrated, hopefully it should reach out many, I can say this is the best quality I have learnt from you, and obviously the best thing I have incurred.
