THE Journey
Lets read a story
You with two of your friends who stay at Bangalore planned for a trip to Coorg. You have been planning it for a really long time, but schedules weren't supporting. At last, you three found time for an awesome destination. Three of you started at 5'o clock in the morning. On your car, way to Coorg. Weather was a bit windy, but you three were excited. After travelling one third of the distance, it started drizzling. Halfway point, it is raining now. Three of you have no thought of returning. You will complete this trip at any cost. You reach the destination and it's raining heavily. Took a room in a hotel, slept for the night. As you woke up in the morning, it is a thunderstorm out there. Whole day, you three weren't even able to go out of the hotel. So, you stayed till evening with some hope to visit at least a fraction of Coorg. Nope! Not happening. Whole day, it rained like it hasn't rained in years.
Successive day, early in the morning, you have to start the return journey. You had no choice. Rain had settled down to a drizzle. You started your return journey with whole lot of disappointment. Came to know that shorter route had experienced some damage due rain and you had to take the hilly one. Another disappointment, as you won't be able to reach home in time.
Your vehicle starts climbing a hilly road and the Sun start its first glimpses onto the mountains. A bit of a smile seeing the Sun after a day of rain. After a while, you all wanted to experience the heat of morning Sun. So, you stop the car, get down, do a bit of stretching and start walking a bit off road. You three are stunned. It's the tip of a mountain, with fog catching up the rays of Sun, feeling the cold mist on your cheek with warm touch of Sun, and the smell of fresh grass. Magnificent. You thought you lost your vacation, and here you are, experiencing the most wonderful moment you've been waiting for.
Since that moment, drive all along has been amazing for three of you. Lots of laughter and fun. One of the most amazing drives you've ever had.
Did you get what you've wanted?
Now, what would you tell me if I asked you about the trip? .................. Most of our answers would be ," It was a sad start. But, return journey was freaking amazing. I loved it. I'll visit that place again for sure." I have a question for you. Did you like the destination, or is it the trip as a whole that you've liked?
It is not that you hate the destination. You'll definitely try to go to Coorg again for trekking and what not, but you'll go in the new route you've discovered. Cause you know, you'll enjoy the ride.
What matters the most!
This does relate a lot to your day to day life. You aim to become the topper of the class and you don't. You wanna get into the best college and you don't. The best company, nope. The best salary package, Nah. Do you know why there are a lot of NOs here. Cause you are concentrating on the destination alone, but not on the Journey. There might be a lot of happy moments in the journey too, but you tend to forget all those in the thirst of chasing that destination and if you don't reach it, you end up reminding yourself with all the bad thoughts you've collected.
The Very moment is Important.
Picking up a higher target, a bigger goal isn't a wrong thing. But, neglecting the journey to that goal is the wrong thing. Your life is of-course filled with hard times, cause if you need a refreshing rain, you'll have to bare the heat of Sun, which picks up all the water to form Clouds.
Your tougher journey doesn't mean you are going the wrong way. Holding onto that path and learning on every failure, implementing those learnings in next executions is what makes you the best of the best.
Your life is hard. That doesn't mean you'll have to make it even harder. Try to bring up your smile to every single tough situation, cause you've come all this long, not just to leave it in the middle of nowhere.
SHE REMEMBER WHO SHE WAS AND THE GAME CHANGED.
