Backlash

Uninstalling Instagram felt good for a couple of days. Got back hours and hours of scrolling time to do other stuff. But, what other stuff to do? I only know spending time on social media whenever I'm free, stressed, happy, sad, excited, or scared. That means I start unlocking my phone the moment I feel anything. All that momentum crashed back into me after about a week of getting out of Instagram. Two scenarios Everything boiled down to two situations. One, whenever I'm relieved from work, I open the app as it decreases my mental task of thinking for me, pushing content into my brain automatically. Two, whenever I had a couple of seconds here or there (standing in the lunch line, waiting for people to join a meet), I opened the app to get a quick emotional boost. I've started using YouTube shorts as a fallback for both of them. I'll explain how my brain kicked back in those two situations. First - Longer hours In the first case, once I completed a physically or mentall...

Social Media Drug

Psychedelic drugs are harmful. They will take you to a higher emotional state for a certain period. Adrenaline gets pumped into the blood and that feels exhilarating. Once you get back to your normal "true" self, everything feels boring. You crave not for the drug but for the experience it gives. That is what happens with social media too. Here is how I tried to pull myself off the social media drug. How successful (or unsuccessful) was I? I am no expert in explaining how social media works and how it affects you. I know it's bad for the most part. Social media was first created to connect people around the globe. It was in my school days when I signed up on Facebook and it was of course revolutionary. I got to talk to people who I hadn't spoken to for years. Adding to it, I got to make new friends. It was fun. It was exciting. That high had to be taken up much higher. Hence came new social media strategies. Best of all was TikTok. Apps understood it worked and everyo...

Magic Behind Books

When someone asked me "Why do you read books?", I replied, "Books speak to me only when I ask them to." Being among books makes me feel as if I am among a plethora of untold stories, ready to be explored. Every word you read in a book builds its own world inside your brain where it remains in its own unique state only for you. Whatever the genre is, books are always amazing at creating the awe of art, and here I am to explain some of it so that you can hop on too. Weirdly, I've started reading books with biographies. The first two books were biographies of two of the people I follow and respect. People ask me what good it is going to bring by reading other's lives. Biographies have helped me peek into the lives of the people I admire, and their ideologies and also answered some of my questions for problems in my real life too. It is as if I get to stay with them for a couple of days day-in and day-out. Then poured myself heavily into Fiction, Crime, Thrille...

WEEK-IN #14

Investment on Emotional balance Investment is basically, you spend something to get the one you need in return. There are a million ways you can invest your money, but this blog is a bit different. This blog talks about the expenditures which are actually investments. The ones which you think didn’t bring anything back, but your sub-conscious mind did get something in return. That’s investing on your emotional balance.  This is a bit tricky cause not everyone accepts this as an investment. What we don’t understand in today’s fast paced world is that we lack emotional balance. I do talk a lot about emotions and control of emotions as your brain cannot do the needful when it doesn’t get enough relaxation. We are humans, and what makes us different from machines are emotions. Working on those emotions is a part of our life, and there is no need to get depressed that you lack the enthusiasm or the will to do your work compared to others. Emotional threshold is different for me compared...

WEEK-IN #6

I’ve been planning to write about this topic for about a year, but an inner confusion held it back. Here comes the understanding of all that confusion.  Addiction Such an irritating word to hear. As soon as I hear it, I’d just throw the person out of the window. But, there is a lot more to it than just doing the thing we love (Of course, Pubg) all day.  Addiction to something like playing video games, watching TV shows, talking on phone seems not so good. Addiction to something like reading books, listening to lectures (If you are one of those who listen to lectures addictively, take my money) seems fine. But, addiction to anything is not so great.  Well, there is always an argument of getting addicted to reading is good as that adds up to your resume eventually. Then, there will be one guy on the opposite side saying that you could earn a lot more through streaming video games. Bottom line is, you get addicted to something, you are going to loose the balance. You start l...
