Waiting for a pat
When you are good at something, you get appreciated. Correct? NO. When you are good at something the people around you are experts of, only then you get appreciated. If not, mostly you'll get a smile and a clap, but not a career path.
I'm not here to show you your career goal. Even I'm confused about mine. But, wanted to address a different problem. Expecting appreciation.
The Problem
You are very young, and you are top-notch in your whole school. You are gonna get appreciated by every single one. You think you are approachable by no one. But, the inevitable is gonna come. A point where you are gonna have a hell lot of competition and you are scared even to participate. That is the situation I wanna talk about. It is then the number of appreciations gets decreased drastically, and you are gonna stumble upon a state called "Depression".
It's funny. Right? You win, you smile. You lose, others yell. The only thing you've been taught is not the knowledge, but the advantages of being on a winners podium. So, you get appreciated only when you get to that podium.
Inevitable
As I've already said, even if you were one who got hold of that first position, you are gonna lose it someday. People expect more from you. You try every single breath to achieve it, but fail to reach there. And again, No appreciations. Appreciations should never be the fuel for your achievements. Appreciations are never gonna last forever. Your own smile to every problem is gonna last forever.
New path
I know how hard it is to give your best without a pat on your back. I've felt those moments a million times and still sense those coming. I've been in the depressed state more than anyone would've ever imagined. But, I'm glad to have stumbled upon such problems, due to which I'm able to help the youth of the nation.
Two points to remember.
- Appreciations are temporary. Your smile to the problem is permanent.
- As I've mentioned in the very first paragraph, children with unique talents are never gonna get enough pats. You see one, try to help up. Cause, you are one of those experiencing right now. Children don't need to have so much stress. They have to find out the fun part of everything. Appreciate them once in a while, to boost up their dreams.
THE DEEPEST PRINCIPLE IN HUMAN NATURE IS THE CRAVING TO BE APPRECIATED. - William James
