WEEK-IN #14
Investment on Emotional balance
Investment is basically, you spend something to get the one you need in return. There are a million ways you can invest your money, but this blog is a bit different. This blog talks about the expenditures which are actually investments. The ones which you think didn’t bring anything back, but your sub-conscious mind did get something in return. That’s investing on your emotional balance.
This is a bit tricky cause not everyone accepts this as an investment. What we don’t understand in today’s fast paced world is that we lack emotional balance. I do talk a lot about emotions and control of emotions as your brain cannot do the needful when it doesn’t get enough relaxation. We are humans, and what makes us different from machines are emotions. Working on those emotions is a part of our life, and there is no need to get depressed that you lack the enthusiasm or the will to do your work compared to others. Emotional threshold is different for me compared to you, and maintaining my emotions to that threshold is my responsibility and choice.
I tell all this cause there are instances where I spend a bit more time relaxing than other. People quickly judge you on it and you lose interest on your day-to-day life. What you don’t understand is, your efficiency on work is also a bit different from everyone. If your colleague works for 4 hours to complete a task and takes 2 hours in between to reset, you might be able to finish the task in 2 hours. But, the other 4 hour rest is also crucial to reset yourself. What you do now is you keep thinking about your pending tasks in those 4 hours, not able to reset and also not able to work once you get back to it.
The other side of the discussion is, you rest too much and that’s addiction. You watch too many movies or play too many games, which eventually eats into your work hours. The crucial part is to know whether it’s an addiction. One solution I’ve found for this paranoia is, if you are on your work and you still keep thinking about your game or movie, that’s addiction. You relax to reset. When you are addicted, there is no reset. Of course, this is my way of finding out my addiction. But, do remember that pin-pointing your addiction and trying to work on it is the way to go.
All in all, you are to take care of your emotional side too. Trust me, it makes a huge difference.
