WEEK-IN #24

Rumors

Rumors are interesting. You might feel negative about the word, but we all love rumors and we all share them subconsciously. That is why they are defined as Rumors, cause they roam around whatever might be the circumstances. That made me thinking, do these so-called "Harmless Rumors" which we share for fun doesn't have any impact on how we perceive information?

Let me give you an example and you decide the answer. You have two friends (boys) who are close, more like best friends. So, once in a while, you make a joke about them being gay and that they should marry each other. Everyone will have a heartful laugh. Even those two friends are going to find this funny. Harmless. Then, you stumble upon two guys who are actually Gay and are planning to marry. You know that being gay is not a choice, but due to hormonal changes which are in no one's control. You know that their love is no different from the love between an opposite gendered couple. Still, your brain doesn't accept the Gay marriage part to be serious, cause that particular relationship is used for fun among your friends. However hard you try to accept their relationship, you end up making their relationship a joke at some point cause spreading rumors makes it fun to talk for everyone and you love the attention you get from making that joke.

That is one among hundreds of rumors we spread every day without us knowing it. Every single fun comment you make is going to affect a random person somewhere in this world. But, isn't fun needed in our life? Of course, it is needed. Still, What is the boundary? Who knows! I try to draw mine to keep those jokes confined rather than being liberated. What is your boundary?
