Social Media Drug

Psychedelic drugs are harmful. They will take you to a higher emotional state for a certain period. Adrenaline gets pumped into the blood and that feels exhilarating. Once you get back to your normal "true" self, everything feels boring. You crave not for the drug but for the experience it gives. That is what happens with social media too. Here is how I tried to pull myself off the social media drug. How successful (or unsuccessful) was I? I am no expert in explaining how social media works and how it affects you. I know it's bad for the most part. Social media was first created to connect people around the globe. It was in my school days when I signed up on Facebook and it was of course revolutionary. I got to talk to people who I hadn't spoken to for years. Adding to it, I got to make new friends. It was fun. It was exciting. That high had to be taken up much higher. Hence came new social media strategies. Best of all was TikTok. Apps understood it worked and everyo...

Judgment vs Facts

"Don't judge", "You judge a lot", "I like that you don't judge anyone". People keep saying these sentences. One of those sentences would be enough to make or break your day. But, in what context do people say it, and is judging people even needed? The straightforward answer to the question is No  for most. For some, they say it's needed. I look at the whole concept of judgment a bit differently. That is where Facts come in. Let's say a person wakes up early. Our parents judge them to be good. Or if someone's addicted to drugs, we feel that it's bad and change the way we treat them. The whole concept of judgment comes from us thinking whether something's good or bad. But in the process, we ignore the fact in itself. If someone wakes up late, accepting the fact that they wake up late has to come first. Whether it is good or bad isn't even necessary at an initial step. The acceptance of information without our perspective on it...

Holding The Child

Opening the eyes from a fantastical dream just to be pulled into the reality of a boring routine. The moment we wake up from bed feels as if we have fallen into a dark tunnel, the path visible just by a single light source produced by someone above your role. so that you can walk the path of predefined tasks. Feels comfortable yet the darker parts of the cave pull your enthusiasm. Is it needed? We are born to explore. Whether it's a huge jungle or a handheld device, we have come here to run in all directions. The excitement, the adrenaline rush of looking forward to an unknown used to be high. But somewhere on the path, we have a grown-up to get scared of diverting from a comfortable path. Getting all your assigned tasks done is always important. It is as if you are getting your minimum requirement completed. Our mind sits relaxed for the final achievement. But, pulling your brain out of the comfortable cushion will be even more exciting. It is as if, having an amazing meal every d...

Magic Behind Books

When someone asked me "Why do you read books?", I replied, "Books speak to me only when I ask them to." Being among books makes me feel as if I am among a plethora of untold stories, ready to be explored. Every word you read in a book builds its own world inside your brain where it remains in its own unique state only for you. Whatever the genre is, books are always amazing at creating the awe of art, and here I am to explain some of it so that you can hop on too. Weirdly, I've started reading books with biographies. The first two books were biographies of two of the people I follow and respect. People ask me what good it is going to bring by reading other's lives. Biographies have helped me peek into the lives of the people I admire, and their ideologies and also answered some of my questions for problems in my real life too. It is as if I get to stay with them for a couple of days day-in and day-out. Then poured myself heavily into Fiction, Crime, Thrille...
